A little about ourselves
Outreach is the work we do as the church gathered. It is our collective effort through ministries, services, events and other activities as the church through which we invite and include others into Word and Sacrament ministry.

Just as individual believers are where they are in life to be witnesses of Jesus, congregations exist where they do in order to gather the people of their communities into Word and Sacrament ministry.
Outreach relies on the witness of individual believers and on the collective efforts of the congregation's members. It is conducted through activities that connect the congregation with those outside of the church, that facilitate building relationships with them, and that lead to making disciples through Word and Sacrament.
Outreach takes many forms in order to adapt to the context of the congregation and the surrounding community, but it ultimately leads to the same Means of Grace through which the Holy Spirit works faith when and where He wills.

The Easter Bucket Challenge
You’ve heard of the “Ice Bucket Challenge”? Well, St. Michael in Richville decided to do a different version. In keeping with the seasons of Lent and Easter, members were asked to consider filling a bucket with cleaning supplies rather than filling a basket with Easter candy. During Lent we meditate on our Lord’s suffering for our sins and cleansing our souls. Easter brings the promise of salvation and Jesus having paid the debt for us. Our robes are made white with His blood.
Headed by Pam Mossner, Connie Mossner , Julie Rupprecht James and the Board of Outreach, the “Easter Bucket Challenge” utilized 5 gallon buckets. These were supplied to members and they were encouraged to take them and fill them with cleaning supplies to be given to the patrons at the Franklin Avenue Mission in Flint.110 buckets came back with cleansers, polish, brooms, mops, sponges, brushes, garbage bags and other items that people could use to do some spring cleaning at their home. We pray that having a clean home will also lift their spirits and give them a better feeling about themselves.

Much thanks to all who participated in helping at the Franklin Ave Mission this last week. It was a pleasure for the “missionaries” of St. Michael’s to be working along side the “missionaries” of St. Lorenz. A special thank you to Norm's of Richville, and the Bavarian Inn for providing the delicious meal on Tuesday. This was very special for the neighbors of FAM and they enjoyed it immensely.
For those of you who have had a positive experience serving the folks at FAM, we ask that you tell others about your experience. Spread the word about the great needs at the mission and how God can use us, His people, in caring for our poor neighbors in Flint.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16

MOTHERS DAY CHICKEN BBQ
St. Michael’s Mother’s Day Chicken BBQ was a magnificent success.
VOLUNTEERS! We could not have done it without you!!!
Because of our volunteers, the event went so smoothly. First, we would like to thank the BBQ Pit volunteers, we had so many compliments on our chicken.
Special thank you to Tim Bierlein, for all your organization and getting the gang back together. The BBQ Pit ROCKS!
To our selling and drive through crew, great job moving everyone fast and safely.
Our kitchen crew was dependable and fabulous, and they worked non-stop helping us making the food and making sure our line had everything they needed.
We love our serving line; they are the coolest and they served up 1600 containers and did not miss a beat. Finally, our runners, this year the youth group helped us out and they did such a great job. A special thanks to Melissa Courville and Amy Hecht who ran the front. We could not have run as efficient as we did without their expertise.
Thank you to the volunteers also that do not belong to St. Michael’s, but gave their time to help us.
Thank you to our supporters: Frankenmuth Credit Union, Norms Market, Cake That, Vassar Building Center, Dunns Hardware, Tim Hortons, Frankenmuth Local Dairy Farmers, St. Michael’s Endowment Thrivent, and Richville Fire Department.
Thank you to our cupcake crew, our Saturday morning crew, and everyone that helped make this event happen.
We sold 1600 and made $16,000.00. All proceeds will benefit St. Michaels and we look forward to serving Sloppy Joes, BBQ Pork sandwiches at the outdoor services this coming summer. Supporting those meals helps defray the cost of the Mother’s Day BBQ.
Hope to see you all next year again, looking forward to your help.
Sincerely
Connie Mossner, Pam (Mark Mossner), Roxane Mossner, Pam (Jeff) Mossner
