36 Amazed, the people exclaimed, “What authority and power this man’s words possess! Even evil spirits obey him, and they flee at his command!” 37 The news about Jesus spread through every village in the entire region. (Luke 4:33-37 NLT)
The confrontation between Jesus and demonic spirit took place in the Synagogue. The evil spirit wanted to disrupt the worship service. Jesus would not allow that to happen. He also did not allow the evil spirit to define Him. Instead Jesus used His power to leave the man and it did. After that Jesus became the talk of the town.
Christians can expect to be confronted for our faith and for what we believe. But we don't need to be afraid because Jesus is with us and has the power to help us face any challenges that come our way. When we live in the power of the Lord and act in love to help and serve others, Jesus and Christianity can be the talk of our town.
