When Herod Antipas, the ruler of Galilee, heard about everything Jesus was doing, he was puzzled. Some were saying that John the Baptist had been raised from the dead. 8 Others thought Jesus was Elijah or one of the other prophets risen from the dead. 9 “I beheaded John,” Herod said, “so who is this man about whom I hear such stories?” And he kept trying to see him. (Luke 9:7-9 NLT)
Herod Antipas was one of the sons of Herod the Great, who tried to kill Jesus when He was an infant. Herod Antipas did not know Jesus and was confused by the things he heard about Jesus.
Too many people today do not know Jesus and are confused because of all the different things they hear about Him. Our world certainly does not paint Jesus and the Christian faith in a positive light. Jesus' teachings are considered old, out dated, even useless. People need to see the real Jesus. Maybe they can see Jesus in us or hear about Jesus from us. It is only when they meet the real Jesus that their confusion will end. Either they will build their lives on Jesus or reject Him and build on something else that does not last. The wise person builds their live on Christ.
