“To what then shall I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like? 32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another,
“‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’
33 For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ 34 The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ 35 Yet wisdom is justified by all her children.” (Luke 7:31-35 NLT)
Because I am going to Cedar Point on Monday with the 7th and 8th grade classes and catching the bus very early in the morning, I will not be posting anything on Monday. So consider this Monday's posting a few days early.
Some people are never satisfied. They can always find something to complain about. Jesus recognized that in how people responded to John the Baptist and Him. Some people were not happy with either one.
If our goal in life is trying to please people, we will be very frustrated and wear ourselves out because we can't do that. We will never please everyone. But if our goal is following Jesus and giving glory to God, the Lord will help us and bless us. He will forgive us when we fail and give us the Holy Spirit to guide us on the right path.
