Praise the Lord

Mary responded, “Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. 47  How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! 48 For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed." (Luke 1:46-48 New Living Translation)

Mary listened to Gabrielle and believed him. Mary responded to the invitation to visit her cousin Elizabeth and received confirmation of God's promise. Then Mary Praised the Lord. Even though there were still important things that needed to be worked out, Mary rejoiced in the Good News that God is her Savior. Christians have called Mary "Blessed" for thousands of years. We are all blessed by Mary's Son, Jesus Christ, the  Son of God, our Savior.

Mary gives us an example to follow. When God speaks to us, we need to listen and believe Him. We can praise God every day for the gift of salvation, for forgiveness and new life in Christ. We can praise and trust God when the details in our lives still need to be worked out, too. God has blessed us to be a blessing to others, to help them when we can and to tell them the Good News that Jesus is their Lord and Savior.

My name is Larry. Right now I am serving as the Intentional Interim or Transitional Pastor at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Richville, MI. This blog is part of my daily personal time reading the Bible and talking with God. It is more of my personal thoughts than a deep theological discussion. Thanks for taking the time to join me in reading and thinking about what God has to say to us today.
