"All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, 19 but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. 20 The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them." (Luke 2:18-20 NLT)
How do you respond to something new, unexpected? We see three different responses to Jesus' birth in these verses. The people who heard the shepherd's story were astonished. But did they do anything about it? We don't know. How do we respond to the Good News? Do we just hear it or do we take it to heart?
The Shepherds gave glory and praise to God after they heard the message of the angel and saw their newborn Savior, Jesus. Do we tell others about Jesus? Do we remember to give him glory and praise every day? Or do we settle for going to church for a worship and don't invite other to meet Jesus?
Mary had at least nine months to prepare for Jesus' birth. After Jesus was born, Mary thought about everything that happened. She not only held her son in her arms, but held Him in her heart. Do we treasure Jesus? Do we let Him sit on the throne of our hearts?
