25 One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: “Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 Jesus replied, “What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?”
27 The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
28 “Right!” Jesus told him. “Do this and you will live!” (Luke 10:25-28 NLT)
If you have been watching the Olympics you may have heard people talking about some athletes being the "GOAT", the Greatest of All Time. I am never sure how someone can make that statement without considering others who have played the same sport but in a different time.
The Gospels tell us that Jesus was asked "What is the Greatest Commandment?" Here Jesus asked an expert in the law what the Law of Moses said about how to enter into eternal life. The man answered the same way Jesus answered the question about the greatest commandment. Love the Lord your God and your neighbor as yourself. These two are the GOAT, the Greatest Commandments of All Time. Romans 13 tells us that "Love is the fulfillment of the Law."
