The disciples of John the Baptist told John about everything Jesus was doing. So John called for two of his disciples, 19 and he sent them to the Lord to ask him, “Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?” 20 John’s two disciples found Jesus and said to him, “John the Baptist sent us to ask, ‘Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?’” (Luke 7:18-20 NLT)
John the Baptist sent two of his disciples to ask if Jesus was the Promised Savior or should they look for someone else. Who is Jesus? Is He our Lord and Savior or should we look for someone or something else? That is the big question we all need to answer. Jesus asked HIs Disciples at Caesarea Philippi, "Who do you say that I am?" Peter answered that Jesus is the Christ, the Promised Savior.
It is too easy to look for other things like occupation, health, wealth, success, reputation or status to give our lives meaning. It is too easy turn to family, friends, or political leaders for help. But things don't last and people can let us down.
If Jesus is our Savior, then we need to let Him into all of our life. We cannot keep Him on the sidelines to jump in when we ask for His help. We need to let Him lead and guide us, forgive and love us, give us His joy and peace. He is the One we should be expecting. He is the One we can count on.
