When Jesus calls and sends someone on a mission, He tells them to have complete trust in Him. That was the case with the 72 who were sent as advanced teams to prepare the way in the places Jesus planned to visit. They were sent like lambs among wolves, so they could expect troubles. But they could also expect that God the Father would take care of them. They were told not to take any extra supplies with them. The people who welcomed them would provide for their needs.
Like the 72, we need to ask the Lord send more workers to people who do not know Him. When we ask, we need to be ready to go where the Lord sends us and trust that God will both protect and provide for us. Jesus calls us to totally trust Him. There is no room for a half hearted commitment. The Lord does not tolerate indifference. In the book of Revelation, the church in Laodicea was warned that God was going to spit it out of His mouth because it was lukewarm. There is a big difference between a lukewarm and a total trusting commitment to Jesus.
